RUCKLE [ˈrʌk(ə)l]

To make a hoarse, rattling sound
To make wrinkles or creases on a smooth surface, make a pressed, folded or wrinkled line.

Impassioned by movement and images as a starting point for storytelling, my work is deeply rooted in devised, experimental & interdisciplinary approaches where theatre, film / micro cinema and foley collide.

Emilie Largier

Artistic Director / Performer

I am a French born & London based theatre-maker, physical theatre performer and workshop facilitator. I am also a GymJam Theatre’s Associate Artist and Chisendale Dance Space Artist Community Member.

I am fascinated by the relationship between performers, space, objects and sounds to create surreal, dark and yet funny worlds interrogating our human nature. My theatrical universe is visually widely inspired by my love for cinema.

In 2020, I graduated from Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company and regularly trains with Ensemble based theatre companies such as Theatre Re, GymJam Theatre, Temper Theatre and Frantic Assembly. I most recently trained with the internationally acclaimed dance theatre company Peeping Tom in Brussels and Gavin Glover in Norway.

In 2023, I received a DYCP Grant to research in Accessibility & Inclusivity in physical theatre practices. Since, I worked with the circus company Mimbre Acrobat on their children show ‘Look Mum, No hands”, Access All Areas on their Performance Making Diploma as a creative partner, and through Summer 2023 with Glad Teatre, an inclusive danish theatre company, as assistant director.

Since Ruckle was founded, I had the great pleasure to collaborate with / be inspired by Caterina Grosoli, Giulia Del Fabbro, Mer Sounds, Matisse Ciel Pagès, Arthur Thorpe, Melina Koutsofta, Amy Dyduch, Libby Symons & Daniel Chrisostomou.
